Title: Counterfeit Loonie???

Has anyone ever heard of a counterfeit loonie being in circulation???  Someone on Facebook is claiming this is fake for the reasons pointed out.  I've never heard of a counterfeit loonie and can find no reference to any on-line.

Yes, I have one of these. The detached bill on the loon is the biggest giveaway. Well-known run of counterfeits produced in Alberta in the early 1990s. There were reports in the June 13, 1992 editions of both the Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal.

Wow.  Thanks for that Seth.  I started cleaning out my coins during Xmas and still going.  I just got to to the loonies.  Cheers, Breanna
