Continuing on ….

As we all know bank branches stock their ATMs over the holidays and I bit the bullet on bank fees and found an ATM that was dispensing IOB $5 notes within number ranges/combinations that had a high likelihood of hitting some Special Serial numbers, so of course I have been going back as often as I can.  The other day the notes were in the 2.222 range but most of the runs I got started around 345.
 
So, considering the large quantity of notes I withdraw, I missed the solid 2 note by a close margin and am attaching a photo of the ranges and where they stopped demonstrating the potential of what may be in the machines. I am keeping the 2221333 note as it is cool (sorry guys). 

I’ve taken about $8k in 5s from this machine recently, all in sequential small runs that seem to be in similar ranges that change in the 1000s periodically, and I have attached photos of the repeaters I have found, and a small ink smear found on one note.  I plan on going back a few times this week.

Season’s Greetings to Everyone!

I’ve had an interesting few past days branch hopping while everyone is out shopping and the banks were empty.  I went to a branch that usually tells me I need to make an order if I want large numbers of notes and I soon thought I had entered walked into one branch and soon thought I had walked into ‘Bizzaro’ world. 

The teller greeted me like an old friend, and immediately retrieved two $1 coins and a 50 cent coin and said she’d held on to them for me. She then asked me “what I was looking for collector wise”, and I replied having already asked and told no many times “well, if you happen to have any old paper notes in your mutilated note file, I would be interested in them”.  And she replied “Oh, you know I think we have some, but I can’t get them right now, why don’t I give you a call on Monday?”  And she took my number. 

Already floored by this, I then handed her $3k in ratty old $5 notes and asked to do a ‘cash in cash out’ for other fives, and she happily did it.  This was a totally bizzarro experience for this branch and while I am happy for the offer of paper notes, I am fully expecting someone at the branch to put a stop on that prior to any getting into my possession, if I even get a call that any exist.  But it IS the thought that counts, and it kind of made my day … I did find the FYZ Repeater and INZ Radar in photo that day also.

I went to the bank to make a cash withdrawal and I found this $5 bill with where's Willy written on it. I went on the website and entered the $5 bill serial number I found from the bank and it came from Roxton Pond, QC. It was nice finding a WW bill as I haven't found one in years.

I agree with all the "wow...amazing...lucky" etc comments though I'm sure you've been hunting for some time & doing the recycle cash business for a while. Congrats.. your trips to the bank have finally paid off!

These are the notes that the RCMP confiscated prior to them going into circulation.  I'll do so research soon to see if I can find the numbers on the counterfeits that are being turned in to local law enforcement like Toronto Police, York Region, etc.

Congratulations on your find, this is awesome.  I have searched through a lot of banknotes and I have yet to find a million number banknote.  I did get lucky last year with a solid number banknote of 4444444.

Reading the last post of certain letters not being used for prefixes, I would like to provide the following piece of interesting information. I was a Graduate Student studying Chemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland from September 1986 to January 1989, more importantly, when I transferred my Ontario Licence Plate for the more attractive Newfoundland Licence Plate in 1986, I received two plates of AHQ-666 and I was thrilled to get the letter "Q" plus the Devil's number of 666 as Ontario did not issue a letter "Q" for many years due to confusion with the Letter "O".  I have treasured these plates and they are now on display in my barn in the Ottawa Valley.

It is too bad that the Bank of Canada does not use the letter "Q" but the US Bureau of Printing and Engraving do use the Letter Q to designate a series of banknotes for the US Federal Reserve Note starting in the latter half of 2024.
