Here are interesting observations from auction activity this past 12 months.  The somewhat hard to find high grade 1937 $20 Osborne-Towers note has appeared in three different auctions very recently.  The serial numbers are within a bundle of 100 notes as shown below:

A/E 0433020, BCS Unc 60 Original, auction October 2nd from Almont.
A/E 0433052, CUnc, auction November 13th from Quebec City.
A/E 0433082, CUnc, auction November 13th from Quebec City.
A/E 0433093, BCS CUnc 63 Original, auction September 27th from Kitchener.

A quick search found other notes from this bundle sold in the past 12 months:

A/E 0433015, PCGS GUnc 65 PPQ, auction July 20th from Quebec City.
A/E 0433022, Unc, auction April 24th from Quebec City.
A/E 0433083, BCS Unc 60 Original, auction December 26 2024 from Kitchener.

I imagine that a more detailed search could find other notes from this range of 100 notes between A/E 0433000 - 0433100.

We sometimes wonder why, at first glance, the catalogue seems to ignore recent auction results.  The pricing panel considers other factors including new hoards of notes or in this case a bundle of $20 notes probably put away many years ago.  (A similar observation has been made regarding 100 notes from the Multi $2 RS test notes – again all Unc’s).

I will leave it to others to comment on the wide range of TPG grades assigned to these Unc notes!

A quick update; we can add a couple more Osborne $20s to the list from the bundle of 100 notes:

A/E 0433012, Legacy GUnc 65 PPQ, ebay seller.
A/E 0433094, Uncirculated, auction December 26th from Kitchener.

The count is 9 notes so far, without much searching.

Very interesting. To add to this I noticed A/E 0433020 that was BCS Unc 60 Original has been regraded legacy gem 65 & is for sale on eBay.
